Our tea is grown on a small family farm, focusing on quality of excellence over massproduction. Chafinity orders in small batches to provide our customers the freshest of tea, harvested only once a year.
Our brushstrokes express the humble Japanese culture of wabi-sabi, embracing the beauty of imperfection - to cherish our unpolished selves; here and now, just as we are.
The gold flecks represent the ‘shirasu’ ash from Sakurajima, an active volcano in Kagoshima that helps produce a rich finish to our mineral-packed soil. Good health starts from good soil. Good soil nurtures healthy crops. In return, healthy crops provide nutrients for a healthier you. Can you spot the ladybugs ? Our family farm is committed to all-natural farming techniques, avoiding all use of pesticides. Ladybug are released into the field for aphid-control.

Founder’s Story

"Coming Back Home"

It all started with a trip back home to Kagoshima, Japan. After years of exposing my body and mind to the hustle and grind of the highly stressful work environment I had created for myself, my soul was longing for a change of pace.

Upon arriving in Kyoto, my wife, Jenn, and I decided to engage in a traditional chanoyu (Japanese tea ceremony)… The experience that followed opened the door to a whole new world that felt both foreign, yet familiar, as we explored the art of chanoyu from the guidance of a true tea master.

With our minds clear and focused, feeling grounded and connected to the land around us, we set out to visit my mother. She wanted to reconnect us with an old family friend that also resided in our homeland of Kagoshima… Little did we know, this pre-ordained meeting would change our lives for the better and set us down a new path towards a common goal.

If you have never been to Kagoshima, you must add it to your travel list. Known as “the land of resources”, Kagoshima sits in southwestern Japan with a beautiful landscape that consists of rolling hills and mountains, Sakurajima, one of the most active volcanoes in Japan, and Yakushima, a lush, green island home to Japan’s oldest living trees.

And then there are the old family farms… Tucked away in the mountains, right outside of Kagoshima City, you’ll find many farms that have been passed down from generation to generation. Nestled in a quiet valley, surrounded by other tea farmers, was Sakamoto-san’s farm. As we turned down the drive and rounded the corner, we saw Sakamoto-san walk out of his barn, smiling as he came to greet us.

From the first moment we met, we could feel the deep connection that spanned generations and generations. Sakamoto-san opened his farm, his home, and his heart to us as we explored the rich fields of matcha he was preparing to harvest in a few weeks. Every detail had been thoughtfully planned, down to the organic soil he cultivated himself… This was no ordinary matcha farm, and Sakamoto-san was no ordinary tea farmer.

It was no coincidence that my mother wanted us to meet this man and his family. It was on this trip that my dream of one day starting a matcha brand began coming to life. Binded by our common goal of sharing the healing power of matcha with the world, giving back to the community, and spreading the rich history of matcha, a partnership was born. This journey is about more than business, it is about fulfilling a destiny.

Our Farm

Our organic green tea and matcha hails all the way from Kagoshima, Japan - known as the Land of Resources. We are honored and privileged to work alongside the small family farm we stand by today. Our lifework as a family-centered brand includes validating these small family farms, driven through the pure passion for their people, for their community and for the earth we walk on.

Certifications


All Chafinity® teas carry the USDA Organic Certification seal, ensuring the utmost highest standard for organic practices. With a zero-tolerance in pesticides along with any other chemical additives, we only believe in agricultural methods that work with nature, not against. In addition to our certified products, all of our associated facilities (including ourselves) are Certified Organic, audited annually by SCS Global Services.

We are proud to be organic at home and across the globe! U.S. and Japan have an equivalent arrangement that states as long as the terms of the agreement are met, U.S. and Japanese organic products up to code in USDA standards or JAS standards may be sold, labeled, and represented as organic in both countries.

The teas we offer are completely gluten-free, and the accessories and the packaging materials undergo a process without any risks of cross-contamination. For our customers with gluten-sensitivity, we stand by you.

All Chafinity®products are never genetically mondified, audited annually by SCS Global Services. We vow that the goodness inside our products come from a place of purity and transparency.

We respect all dietary needs, and we feel so honored to be a part of a green-based industry. Our tea products are purely derived from one plant and one plant only --- the Camellia Sinensis.

As our farmers actively give back to the Earth, it is our job to make active choices to help eliminate illegal deforestation. Chafinity® offers all packaging made from recyclable materials that are FSC-certified forest products.
