Brewing Rituals

Loose-leaf tea can be enjoyed over several infusions. As the leaves open, each steep reveals a different expression of aroma, texture, and flavor.

Choose your tea below for Chafinity’s recommended measurements, water temperature, and steeping time.

Premium Gyokuro|玉露

Deep umami, natural sweetness, and a smooth, velvety finish.

Sencha 煎茶

Fresh, vibrant, and refreshing, with a balance of sweetness and green aroma.

Japanese Oolong|烏龍茶

Smooth, floral, and gently aromatic.

Hojicha焙じ茶

Deep umami, natural sweetness, and a smooth, velvety finish.

Before You Begin

Give the leaves room to open.

A small teapot works well for most loose-leaf teas. For Gyokuro and Sencha, we recommend a kyusu—a Japanese teapot designed to help delicate tea leaves spread and infuse evenly.

Use the recommended water temperature.

Delicate green teas benefit from gentler heat, while roasted and more oxidized teas can be prepared with hotter water.

Pour completely.

Empty the teapot after each infusion. The final drops often hold the deepest flavor, and pouring fully prevents the leaves from continuing to steep.

Brew the leaves again.

High-quality tea leaves can often be enjoyed for more than one infusion.
